Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has onstage meltdown, checks into rehab the week of “¡Uno!” release
On Saturday, Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong, went on an expletive-laced rant on stage at iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. He was apparently intoxicated, and upset that 20 minutes were cut from their set to make room for other acts, including Usher.
After cutting short his performance of Green Day's 1994 hit 'Basketcase', Armstrong pointed to a sign signifying they had one minute left.
“You’re going to give me one minute? One fucking minute? I’ve been around since fucking 1980 fucking 8, and you’re going to give me one fucking minute? . . . I’m not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers.” After the rant was over, he smashed his guitar against the stage until it snapped in two, then walked off stage.
Green Day's new album "¡Uno!" is in stores tomorrow. Sources close to the singer say he has checked into rehab, and will be getting the help that they say is long overdue. We wish him a speedy recovery.
