Mac Dre, R.I.P.by Andy Rust What’s the deal with Tupac? How many songs are there in the can? Is there anyone that really knows? Was he a thug or was he a saint? All respect, and I’m down with Pac, but I still shake my head when something new drops. Is that shit gonna happen with Mac Dre? Da US Open doesn’t really count, because Dre was still involved directly with the end result, but what’s down the line here for the Thizz? Is it gonna be five years from now and shit still be hitting the street? It’s just weird, that’s all, not bad. I mean, it’s
that from beyond the grave thing. It’s also the thing that, hey,
if Dre was here now, he’d be going nationwide. His shit was on
the way up. Da U.S. Open is a great album,
finally bringing Dre and Mac Mall together on a whole album. From the
start, “if you love your bitches, put em in handcuffs” to
the sultry “H…. E….. A……T….”
this is the real sound of Vallejo, Thizz style. And what’s the
deal with the Jamaican song? I know dudes that aren’t even into rap who love the Thizz covers. You always know a Dre album. Maybe The Game is Thick got a little close to normal, but hey, what about Thizzelle Washington or Ronald Dregan? Da US Open keeps it goin’. Mall Macenroe plays the game too, enthusiastically showing up like he’s at the tennis match, though he can’t help himself but look tough. Yeah, Dre had the vision. “When Dre raps you hear hand claps and toe taps,” which is him talkin’ but it’s the truth, straight up. Mac’s relaxed flow and bizzaro verbal flow is perfectly balanced by the harder edge of Mall, and like I said, it’s the true sound of Vallejo. Thank the good lord that Mall and Dre made friends again. So what is in the future for Dre? Well, right now we got the Don’t Hate the Playa 2, hosted by DJ Rick Lee, we got a new Cutthroat Committee, we got the Thizz Nation Vol. 3 mixtape. We got Treal TV 2, both the DVD and the CD, and even if that’s it, that’s a lot. So it’s all good. And if there’s more that’s good too. |
