A Static Lullaby

Faso Latido

A Static Lullaby’s debut album on Columbia Records, Faso Latido is forgettable at best. Energetic screams are pushed to the background while the mediocre melody enjoys the spotlight and old school punk legend Sammy Seigler (Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits) plays barely audible drums. Smooth Modulator starts somewhat strong with hardcore vocals but the awkward switching between singers just doesn’t work. Half Man, Half Shark sounds as if its energy collapsed under the weight of overproduction. Jesus Haircut’s half-second bass guitar intro sounds good but it’s cut off by more of the same high pitched-guitar riffs and whiny vocals. This album is just an echo of the intensity of their first, …And Don’t Forget to Breathe. The music went through Columbia Record’s music machine and left as just another one of the radio automatons that have been boring listeners for years. -- Nadia Smit
