Collections of “greatest hits” seem redundant to me. But to Oakland emcee and Living Legends member The Grouch’s credit, he has released 8 solo albums, a DVD, several collaborative albums (one with Daddy Kev, two with Eligh as G&E, two with PSC as the CMA), and four with his Living Legends crew. And some of them weren’t that great. Grouch’s “My Baddest B*tches” is more than just a collection of what he considers to be his best works as it comes double-sided with enhanced audio features for DVD surround sound devices and also includes music videos and other extras for your computer box. The “bitches” chosen provide a good example of his works but, though he’s worked on so many projects, the 13 tracks come from 6 of those works mentioned. The CD portion also includes one unreleased song and one collaboration with Zion I from Zion I’s “Mind Over Matter” album. For Legends/Grouch newbies, it’s a good introduction to the artist, but for established fans, perhaps a few more tracks and some more exclusive content would make this CD worth purchasing. - Zoneil Maharaj
