(Hidden Agenda Records)

The Jan Martens Frustration from Gothenburg, Sweden have come out with their first full-length and creatively named it after themselves. For fans of their H Bomb Club EP, this is long awaited. For those who have been waiting for a sound that falls between garage rock and something harder, featuring vintage amps and cosmic effects and lyrics that can only be described as angst ridden, then you need wait no longer.
The Jan Martens Frustration is for fans of other Swedish bands like The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Union Carbide Productions, The Hellacopters and The Nomads though they’re a cut below as far as maturity is concerned. They definitely have their own sound, but it’s one that doesn’t evolve as much as it could throughout the 15 tracks. Listening to it is like trembling on the edge of orgasm without release. For 15 songs. It feels good, but when they’re finished, you’re not.
Founded by ex-members of The Nymphet Noodles and peppered with guest appearances by members of The Hellacopters and The Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Jan Martens Frustrations is worth checking out but you have been warned – they bring the lube but not much else. - Valeria Vegas
