Mack 10
Hustla’s Handbook
Hoo- Bangin’/ Capitol

Mack 10 is back from what seems to be near retirement! Okay not really, that Westside Connection came out not too far back, but before that I couldn’t tell you what he’d been doing… raising kids maybe? As for this record, Mack does his best to try and compete with his latest counterparts with mixed results. The beats vary from interesting to bland, covering the spectrum of commercial appeal. Noticeably absent however, is the G-funk sound that Mack has been known to rock for so long. Hearing him rap over beats that are better suited for someone from G-Unit just seems weird and out of place. The exception comes in the form of “Dome Shot” feat. Young Soprano, which gives you tastes of the Mack 10 of old, complete with a rolling bass line and Roger-like background synths. Check it if you’re a fan, leave it if you weren’t around when “Backyard Boogie” was the joint. - Meat
