Maybe at 25 I am getting old and bitter…but this album reminds me of the innocence music sometimes forgets to represent, in its over-emphasis on politics and lyrical styling. The album just flows along naturally and tends to be very simplistic and pop oriented; it has no problem being delicate and emotion evoking. Its playful rhythms are complimented by the occasional female voice highlighting the semi-high pitched male lead vocalist. It has very pretty feelings, it allows for a space of innocence without being too sugarcoated. It can also have very rough raw edgy riffs here and there, like the intro to “Long Legs,” which is only then followed by a great simple beat and some doo-wop-esque back up singers. Not only is it musically and lyrically great, but well produced. I think the whole album is great, you can listen to it from beginning to end, and know you are still listening to the same band, and you can also rest assured they are being themselves. - Clara Flores
