Ministry
Rantology

(Interscope Records)

So Al Jourgensen finally decides to release a whole definitive compilation of Ministry’s music from the last two decades. On the first track “No W redux” he is making fun of Dubya by taking sound bites and putting some loud angry riffs around it. Ministry is great at making political comments in between some industrial dance music. There are many new updated mixes of popular songs, like “Jesus Built My Hotrod.” The songs seem one-dimensional at times, but then they redeem themselves when the guitarist steps in, but it gets old soon. There are some live tracks and alternate mixes, but to be honest, a compilation featuring the mixes I am used to would have been much better, this just makes all the songs sound the same, because the mixes have all been updated to today. I was expecting a bit more. - Clara Flores
