Sadly, Mon Frere’s Real Vampires EP has nothing to do with blood sucking, biting, or anything remotely related to darkness or pale skinned immortals. In fact, if this were the soundtrack to a movie about such creatures, the starring coven would probably be dressed like new millennium ravers and relatively carefree. The music is almost dance-y, electric, verging on pop with semi-aggressive lyrics. The female vocals are the only redeeming feature of the record and the band. Nouela A. Johnston is her name and she’s a bad ass vocalist. In fact, she’s the only thing punk about this group. Nouela, if you want my unsolicited advice, dump these guys and hook up with some gals who can fuckin’ rock the way you do. This frou-frou shit is not good enough for you. - Valeria Vegas
