How stupendous is it when someone dedicates a whole album to a place. Coles Corner is a bar in Sheffield, and Richard Hawley manages to embody the atmosphere of the place on this album.. The touring guitarist for the band Pulp, and also an ex-member of the Longpigs, he really stands out because of how sentimental his voice is, a charming baritone which captured the bittersweet angst that we see in someone like Roy Orbison. It is such an amazing collection of slow mellow memory-infused songs, one could honestly fall in love, and go to sleep to this album. It is romantic and wistful, very well composed and sung. Some of my favorite songs are “The Ocean” because it has a beautiful chorus, “I Sleep Alone” because it is got a bit of country feel and finally my favorite track is “Last Orders” just because it is so sad and melancholy. - Clara Flores
