Sean Paul

The Trinity
VP Records/ Atlantic

Here’s another example of the sophmore jinx. fortunately for Sean, Dancehall is at it’s Zentih, commercially, but this album isn’t gonna cut it. Unlike Dutty Rock, there’s no stand out track on here to give it the kind of support it needs in order to be successful. And although he doesn’t entirely try to go with the crossover appeal like Damian Marley did on his latest, it probably would’ve help in the long run. T o his credit, it does pick up somewhat around the seventh track, but doesn’t deliver enough quality to sustain any long-lasting interest. It’s too bad since girls were loving anything he touched for a minute, making it easy for any club DJ out there. - Meat
