Top Cat: The Complete Series
(Warner Bros)

Why is it this Hanna-Barbera series only lasted one season? It was as funny as the Flinstones or the Jetsons and definitely hipper than your average (Yogi) Bear. Could it be that set on the streets of NYC it was a tad too sophisticated? Maybe it was because it came on later in the evening and was marketed as an ‘adult’ cartoon? Whatever the reason, all 30 episodes are now available in a deluxe box set for all to enjoy. Voiced by the great Arnold Stang, Top Cat (or T.C. to his friends) was the leader of pack of mangy felines living in one of the Big Apple’s many alleyways. There was never a caper too difficult to pull off, especially since Officer Dibble, the local constabulary, was a sweet but blithering boob. The style is pure H-B and its 1960 heritage referenced the hipster lingo of the time. There are plenty of bonus features, including two documentaries, a storyboard showcase, three commentaries a singalong and more.
