The Unheard Music

Part documentary-part art project, 1985’s The Unheard Music looks back at the beginnings of L.A.’s premier punk band using bits of home movies, interview clips, performance footage and clips from ‘50s-era commercials and industrial films. There are plenty of fab concert sequences that capture X at their peak and scenes of DJ Bonebrake playing vibes in his kitchen, or Billy Zoom installing a new window in the tour van offer insight into a side of the band that’s rarely seen or discussed. Unavailable for years, the DVD makes all those crappy VHS boots redundant and should make fans extremely happy.
